About the Rink

Brenton Skating Plaza is an outdoor seasonal rink on the Principal Riverwalk in downtown Des Moines. The open-air facility offers skyline views along the Des Moines River.

Public Skating

• Public skating: Offered daily during the winter season
• Public skating hours: Mon–Thu 5–9 p.m.; Fri 5–11 p.m.; Sat noon–11 p.m.; Sun 11 a.m.–5 p.m.
• Admission: $10 adults / $6 children and seniors / free ages 5 and under
• Skate rental: $5; free with paid admission on Monday or Tuesday
• Season: November through March; weather dependent

• Amenities: Concession stand, shoe check, fire pit area
• Important rule: Rink closes when temperatures exceed 65°F or during severe weather
